On the road again...

We have been trying to add photos but something is going wrong so I'll do it like this.
We left Mandurah and have spent a day at the sanddunes and had a look at the Pyrramides.
We're in Geraldton now. Hope this thing will work later.

Welcome Megan Skye -grandchild no 8

Megan Skye let us all wait till her due date to show her pretty face. She weighed just over 4 kg so she has a good start in life.We have stayed at David and Sara's to await the big event and as you can understand ,we're very thrilled that everything went well.
Aiden gave his little sister lovely kisses but we weren't quick enough to catch them.I suppose this shows how grownup he is, drinking from a glass. Sara is really well and Megan has already got the hang of feeding.
There is just nothing like the first hold of a grandchild !
Glenys,Sara's mum, was at the hospital at the same time as us.It looks like she might have got the first smile!

Mandurah

Mandurah Quays is a new development with beautiful views across the marina . Only for the wealthy if you want to live there but very nice for a walk.

The ocean beach is a short drive from David and Sara's. Aiden was frightened by the big waves.
Dave and Sara redid their garden last year and are enjoying it now.The kangaroo paws are giving an amazing show and really attracting the birds.
This is a photo of private jetties along the estuary. They have pulled old houses down and are trying to sell land for $900k for 1/8acre ! This really is a boom town.

Jack fruit at George's

Here we are at Sara's Dad, George's place. George and his wife Rosemary, both originally from the Seychelles, welcomed us into their home and put on a beautiful meal. As dessert we had a pavlova which doubled as birthday cake with candles to be blown out by Aiden and friend Xavier.
George grows his own tropical fruit in the backyard and he just harvested a Jack fruit, which had to be tried out (of course). With plenty of onlookers the fruit was cut to bite size and we all tucked in. Verdict ?? Very sweet flavour like a mixture of banana with mango, recommended !! and plenty of leftovers for the next dinner party.
The pips can be roasted, like you do with chestnuts. And hereby ends our epicure-section, Bon Appetit.

Father & son

Footprints in the sand at Mandurah-beach. Father David and son Aiden walking along the foreshore of the Indian Ocean.

Feeding the ducks?

There is a duck pond in easy walking distance so we took some bread along for Aiden to feed them. Of course they gathered around...

Just as well Hank threw a bit at them or they would have missed out

I think the ducks had lost interest. Aiden didn't need much lunch -his tummy was full !

Opa and Aiden are firm friends.Aiden's always wanting to know "what ya doing now opa?"

We have decided to stay here for a while longer.Sara says it's a real help that we entertain the little man. She is able to rest a bit during the day.As you can see, the weather is beautiful and we are having a good time.

swimming lesson

It was fun to join Sara and Aiden for his swimming lesson. Most of the children are from the mothers group, so they are happy to see each other. They are mainly taught to feel at ease in the water.Last week Aiden over balanced while looking at fish in the sea. He went right under and kicked to come up- didn't panic at all. Sara jumped in to rescue him , but she reaped the benefit of these classes.(See her blogspot for her story)
